Work
Manuel Griebler's oeuvre is characterized by sheet-covering drawings filled by numerous small heads spread out in all directions. The background of his mostly very colorful pictures is a potpourri of colors that creates the impression of a sea of people, which connects the individual heads with each other. Varying from picture to picture, a multitude of other objects - from flowers and parasols to smiley faces and pirate ships - can be discovered between the heads.
While his early works were created with pencil and oil pastels on A3 paper, Griebler now exclusively works with colored pencils. The way he uses them - with a lot of pressure – creates an appearance which is almost reminiscent of the oil pastels from his early days. In addition to the material, the format of his works has also changed. Besides still favoring DIN A3 other formats have become more frequent over the past couple of years.
The artist is represented by galerie gugging. Griebler's works are already part of numerous private collections and have been shown in various exhibitions including some at the galerie gugging, the museum gugging and the Stadtmuseum Klosterneuburg.
