Oswald Tschirtner Chapel

The Gugging artist Oswald Tschirtner was a deeply religious person who read the Bible every day. In the building that was converted into an art center, which was originally a “children's house” run by nuns, there was a room that was used as a chapel.

Johann Feilacher asked Oswald Tschirtner to think about what he wanted to do in this room. Oswald Tschirtner was delighted to be able to design this room as a new chapel.

In 2001, he painted the walls of the room, which was still in an otherwise unfinished state. Only in 2024 it was possible for the rest of the room (ceilings, floors etc.) to be restored and redesigned by the gugging friends association. A ceiling creation by the artist “Birdman” Hans Langner was used for this purpose. An installation of his work now also fills the vestibule of the chapel.

In the future, the chapel can be used for church events such as christenings, weddings and more and is intended for all denominations.
